About the Riley 4/68
The Riley 4/68 was the final and most upscale member of the BMC 'Farina' family, sharing its Pinin Farina-styled body with siblings from Austin, Morris, MG, and Wolseley. It distinguished itself with a traditional Riley upright grille, a more comprehensive walnut-veneered dashboard featuring a tachometer, and a twin-carburettor B-Series engine shared with the MG Magnette Mk III. While it offered more luxury than the Austin A55, its narrow track and high centre of gravity led to criticisms of its handling, which were only addressed in the later 4/72. Today, it is a rare and charming alternative to more common 1960s British saloons, prized for its period-correct interior and badge prestige.

Riley 4/68 fun facts
- The 4/68 was the only one of the five BMC Farina saloons to be fitted with a rev counter as standard equipment.
- Despite its sporting Riley badge, the 4/68 was actually slower than the smaller, lighter Riley One-Point-Five which remained in production alongside it.
- The model name '4/68' followed Riley's naming convention where '4' stood for the number of cylinders and '68' for the brake horsepower (though it was officially rated at 64 bhp).
