About the Daimler Conquest
The Daimler Conquest was introduced in 1953 as a more accessible entry into the prestigious Daimler range, effectively replacing the Consort. Based on the Lanchester Fourteen chassis, it featured a smooth 2.4-litre straight-six engine and the marque's signature fluid flywheel coupled with a Wilson pre-selector gearbox. While the standard 75 hp saloon focused on refined, stately transport, it paved the way for the more powerful 'Century' variants. Today, it is valued by collectors for its high build quality, traditional wood-and-leather interior, and unique driving experience provided by the pre-selector transmission.

Daimler Conquest fun facts
- The Conquest was developed in just four months after Bernard Docker took over as managing director of Daimler in 1953.
- It used a 'fluid flywheel' which allowed the car to remain stationary in gear without stalling, acting as a precursor to modern automatic torque converters.
- The model name 'Conquest' was chosen to celebrate the car's price of £1,066 (before tax), a nod to the Battle of Hastings in 1066.
