About the GAZ M1
The GAZ M1, affectionately known as the 'Emka', was the definitive Soviet passenger car of the pre-war era. While based on the 1934 Ford Model B, it was extensively re-engineered for the USSR's harsh climate and lack of paved roads, featuring a reinforced X-member frame and a more robust leaf-spring suspension. It served as the primary transport for government officials, doctors, and the military, becoming a symbol of Soviet industrialisation. Today, it is a highly prized collector's item in Eastern Europe, valued for its historical significance and rugged simplicity.
