About the Renault Megane Mk2

The second-generation Renault Megane, launched in 2002, was famous for its avant-garde 'shaking that ass' styling, featuring a distinctive vertical rear window and protruding boot lid. It was a significant safety pioneer, becoming the first small family car to achieve a five-star Euro NCAP crash test rating. The 1.6-litre Dynamique trim was the sweet spot of the range, offering a balance of decent equipment levels and a rev-happy 16-valve engine. While the electric power steering was often criticised for being numb, the chassis provided a comfortable ride typical of French hatchbacks of the era. Today, it is remembered as a design icon that helped Renault win the 2003 European Car of the Year award.
