About the Proton Perdana

Launched in 1995, the Proton Perdana was Malaysia's first entry into the D-segment executive saloon market, designed to compete with the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord. It was a badge-engineered version of the seventh-generation Mitsubishi Eterna, featuring the robust 4G63 engine and a sophisticated multi-link suspension setup. The car was a significant status symbol in its home market, often serving as the official vehicle for government officials and ministers. While it offered a smooth ride and a low drag coefficient of 0.29, it was eventually superseded in prestige by the V6 variant and later Honda-based generations.
