About the Isuzu Gemini

The third-generation Isuzu Gemini, launched in 1990, represented the final iteration of the model developed entirely in-house by Isuzu before the brand transitioned to rebadged Honda and Subaru products. This generation featured a distinctive 'organic' styling language and was technically sophisticated, offering a 1.6-litre DOHC 4XE1 engine that produced a healthy 140 hp. Higher-tier trims often benefited from Isuzu's partnership with Lotus, receiving 'Handling by Lotus' suspension tuning that made them surprisingly capable drivers' cars. While it was sold in North America as the Isuzu Stylus, the Gemini remains a cult classic in Japan and Australia, valued for its high-revving nature and lightweight chassis.

  • The 'Handling by Lotus' versions featured specific suspension geometry, dampers, and Recaro seats as standard equipment.
