About the Proton Putra
The Proton Putra is a two-door sports coupé based on the fourth-generation Mitsubishi Mirage Asti. Launched in 1996, it served as Proton's flagship performance model, featuring the 1.8-litre 4G93P engine that would later gain fame in the Satria GTi. It was highly specified for its price point, coming standard with Recaro N-Joy seats and a Momo steering wheel and gear knob. While it struggled for sales in export markets like the UK (where it was sold as the Proton Coupé), it has become a significant cult classic in Malaysia due to its light weight and tuning potential.
