About the Proton Exora

Launched in 2009, the Proton Exora marked a significant milestone as Malaysia's first indigenously designed multi-purpose vehicle. Built on the P2 platform, it was developed to offer a spacious seven-seat interior at a highly competitive price point, challenging established Japanese rivals in Southeast Asia. The initial 1.6-litre CamPro CPS engine featured cam-profile switching to improve efficiency, though it was often noted for being underpowered when fully loaded. Despite this, the Exora became a staple of Malaysian roads due to its practical cabin layout and Lotus-tuned ride and handling characteristics.
