About the Porsche Cayman 987
Launched in 2005 as a 2006 model, the 987-generation Cayman S was Porsche's first dedicated mid-engined coupé since the 914. By adding a fixed roof to the Boxster chassis, Porsche increased torsional rigidity by 150%, creating a car that many enthusiasts felt was more balanced and intuitive than the contemporary 911. The 3.4-litre M97 engine provides linear power delivery, while the hydraulic steering offers a level of feedback rarely found in modern successors. It remains a benchmark for mid-engined handling and is increasingly prized for its 'analogue' driving experience.
