About the Mazda 6 MPS GG
The Mazda 6 MPS (marketed as the Mazdaspeed6 in North America) was a high-performance evolution of the GG-generation saloon, designed to challenge the likes of the BMW 330i and Subaru Impreza WRX. It featured a 2.3-litre DISI turbocharged engine and a sophisticated Active Torque Split all-wheel-drive system capable of sending up to 50% of power to the rear wheels. Visually understated, it was distinguished by a raised bonnet line to clear the top-mounted intercooler, a subtle lip spoiler, and dual exhaust outlets. While heavier than its rivals, its refined damping and linear power delivery made it an exceptionally capable and mature long-distance performance car.

Mazda 6 MPS GG fun facts
- The 6 MPS was the most powerful production saloon Mazda had ever built at the time of its release.
- To accommodate the all-wheel-drive system and rear differential, the MPS was only available as a saloon, as the hatchback and estate bodies lacked the necessary structural rigidity.
- The car's bonnet is raised by several centimetres compared to the standard Mazda 6 to provide airflow to the intercooler via a duct built into the underside of the hood.
