About the Porsche Cayman 981
The 981-generation Cayman arrived in 2013 with a longer wheelbase, wider tracks, and a significantly stiffer chassis that utilised aluminium-intensive construction to shed weight. While the 2.7-litre engine was smaller than its predecessor's 2.9-litre unit, it produced more power and a spine-tingling flat-six howl that remains a highlight of the naturally aspirated era. It is widely regarded by collectors as one of the best-handling Porsches ever made, offering a level of balance and steering precision that often overshadowed the contemporary 911. The 981 represents the final generation of the entry-level Cayman to feature a six-cylinder engine before the switch to turbocharged four-cylinder units.
