About the Porsche 911 GT2 996
The 996-generation GT2 was the first water-cooled iteration of Porsche's most fearsome 911 variant. Developed by Porsche Motorsport, it combined the widebody shell of the 911 Turbo with a more powerful 'Mezger' engine and the track-focused suspension philosophy of the GT3. Crucially, it discarded the Turbo's all-wheel-drive system and all electronic stability aids, earning a reputation as a demanding 'Widowmaker'. As the first production Porsche to feature Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) as standard, it remains a landmark of analog performance for collectors.
