About the Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.0
The 1974 Carrera RS 3.0 was developed as a homologation evolution to allow Porsche to race the 3.0 RSR. It is significantly rarer and more track-focused than the famous 2.7 RS, featuring a reinforced chassis, wider wheel arches, and a massive 'whale tail' rear wing. The engine uses a durable aluminium crankcase and Bosch mechanical fuel injection, while the braking system is lifted directly from the legendary 917 racer. With only 55 units produced, it remains one of the most sought-after and visceral driving experiences in the history of the 911.

Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.0 fun facts
- The RS 3.0 was so extreme that it was delivered with two rear spoilers: a road-legal version and a larger racing wing that was technically illegal for German roads as it overhung the bumper.
- To achieve its 900kg kerb weight, Porsche used thin-gauge steel for the roof and doors, and fibreglass for the bumpers, bonnet, and engine cover.
- The car's four-piston aluminium brake calipers and cross-drilled discs were sourced directly from the 917 Can-Am endurance racer.
