About the Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7
The 1973 Carrera RS 2.7 was developed to homologate the 911 for FIA Group 4 racing, becoming the first production car to feature a rear spoiler—the iconic 'ducktail'. While the Lightweight (M471) was a stripped-out racer, the Touring (M472) retained the interior comforts of the 911 S, making it the more usable road-going variant. It features a bored-out 2.7-litre engine with Nikasil-lined cylinders and Bosch mechanical fuel injection, delivering a sharp, high-revving character. Its balance of light weight, precise handling, and aerodynamic stability established the template for every subsequent RS model. Today, it is considered one of the most significant and collectible Porsches ever produced.
