About the Alfa Romeo RZ
The Alfa Romeo RZ (Roadster Zagato) is the convertible sibling to the SZ coupé, featuring the same striking 'brutalist' styling by Robert Opron and Antonio Castellana. Built by Zagato, it features a composite body over the chassis of the Alfa 75 Group A IMSA racing car, resulting in exceptional handling and a high lateral G-force capability. While it shares the mechanicals and the iconic 3.0-litre 'Busso' V6 with the SZ, the RZ features a unique flat rear deck, a lower windscreen, and a revised front spoiler to improve ground clearance. It remains one of the rarest production Alfa Romeos, with significantly lower production numbers than its coupé counterpart.
Alfa Romeo RZ specs

How much is an Alfa Romeo RZ worth?
A typical Alfa Romeo RZ is estimated to be worth $70,000 – $110,000 (about £52,000 – £82,000).
Values are directional estimates for a typical example, not appraisals. Condition, mileage, history and specification all change what a real car is worth. Pound figures use the exchange rate of 3 November 2026. How values are estimated
Alfa Romeo RZ rarity in CarSpot
The Alfa Romeo RZ is a Unicorn card in CarSpot, with a rarity score of 100 out of 100. The rarest tier: hypercars, one-offs and cars built in tiny numbers, typically fewer than about 500. A Unicorn card is worth 320 XP.
Each model's tier starts from a 0–100 score based on its value plus its power or production numbers. Once enough players have spotted a model, how often it is spotted can move it up or down one tier. How CarSpot rarity works
Rarity is a collectible game mechanic, not an assessment of real-world scarcity or value.
Alfa Romeo RZ fun facts
- While 350 units were planned, only 284 were actually completed before Zagato entered receivership, making it much rarer than the SZ.
- The RZ was available in only three official colours: red, yellow, and black, though three cars were reportedly finished in silver and one in metallic white.
- Despite its radical looks, the RZ uses a transaxle layout with a rear-mounted gearbox and De Dion rear suspension for near-perfect weight distribution.
