About the Bentley 8 Litre
The Bentley 8 Litre was the final and most ambitious model developed by W.O. Bentley before the company's acquisition by Rolls-Royce. Conceived as a rival to the Rolls-Royce Phantom II, it featured a massive 8.0-litre straight-six engine with four valves per cylinder and twin-spark ignition, mounted on a robust ladder-frame chassis. Despite its immense size and weight, the 8 Litre was remarkably refined, capable of accelerating smoothly from a walking pace to 100 mph in top gear. Only 100 units were produced, as the Great Depression decimated the market for ultra-luxury cars, making original-bodied saloons highly prized by modern collectors.
