About the Plymouth Valiant
The second-generation Plymouth Valiant, introduced in 1963, refined the compact formula with cleaner, more squared-off styling by Virgil Exner. This 3.7-litre (225 cubic inch) 'Super 225' variant features the legendary Slant-6 engine, canted at a 30-degree angle to allow for a lower bonnet line and efficient long-runner intake manifolds. Renowned for its exceptional durability, the Valiant utilised unibody construction and torsion-bar front suspension, providing handling that was often considered superior to its contemporary rivals from Ford and Chevrolet. While the 1964 model year saw the introduction of a V8 option, the Slant-6 remained the definitive choice for those valuing the Valiant's core promise of economical, trouble-free motoring.
