About the Peugeot Type 190

The Peugeot Type 190, often marketed as the 5CV, was a pivotal small car that bridged the gap between the cyclecar-inspired Quadrilette and the modern 201. It was one of the last mass-produced Peugeots to feature a body built around a traditional ash or beech wood frame, crafted by skilled carpenters. Powered by a tiny 695cc side-valve engine, it offered reliable, economical transport for the French middle class during the late 1920s. Its success helped Peugeot transition to the standardized three-digit naming convention that defines the brand today.
