About the Fiat 514
The Fiat 514 was introduced in 1929 as a successor to the 509, designed to be a more robust and capable compact car for the global market. It featured a larger 1.4-litre side-valve engine and a four-speed gearbox, which was a significant upgrade for a car of its class at the time. The model was produced in numerous body styles including two and four-door saloons, spiders, and torpedoes, and was even manufactured under licence in Spain as the Hispano-Suiza 514. While it was eventually replaced by the more advanced 508 Balilla, the 514 remains a charming example of Fiat's early engineering prowess.
