About the Peugeot 806
The Peugeot 806 was part of the 'Eurovan' project, a joint venture between PSA and Fiat that also produced the Citroën Evasion, Fiat Ulysse, and Lancia Zeta. Introduced in 1999, the 2.0 HDi variant brought Peugeot's sophisticated common-rail diesel technology to the range, offering significantly better refinement and efficiency than the older XUD units. Its cabin was highly praised for its versatility, featuring sliding rear doors and seats that could be swivelled, folded, or entirely removed. While not a driver's car, its car-like handling and vast interior space made it a staple of European family transport in the late 1990s.

Peugeot 806 fun facts
- The 806 actually competed in the 1995 Spa 24 Hours race, though it was a heavily modified version far removed from the family van.
- Unlike the Renault Espace, the Eurovans featured sliding rear doors, which were considered a major practical advantage in tight European parking spaces.
- The gear lever was mounted on the dashboard rather than the floor to allow for a clear 'walk-through' path between the front seats.
