About the Citroën Synergie
The Citroën Synergie was the result of the 'Eurovan' joint venture between PSA and Fiat, sharing its platform with the Peugeot 806, Fiat Ulysse, and Lancia Zeta. Introduced to the UK market in 1995, it was renamed from the continental 'Evasion' to avoid negative connotations. The 2.0 HDi common-rail diesel arrived in late 1999, offering significantly improved refinement and fuel economy over the older XUD units. While not as sharp to drive as the contemporary Ford Galaxy, its sliding rear doors and highly flexible seating made it a favourite for large families. Today, few survive on UK roads, making well-maintained examples a rare sight of 1990s utilitarian design.

Citroën Synergie fun facts
- The Synergie's sliding rear doors were a major selling point, allowing for easier access in tight parking spaces compared to the hinged doors of the Ford Galaxy.
- Despite being a Citroën, the Synergie was actually built alongside its siblings at the Sevel Nord factory in Valenciennes, France.
- The 2.0 HDi engine was a significant technological leap for the model, introducing common-rail direct injection to the range just before the model was replaced by the C8.
