About the Peugeot 306
The Peugeot 306 was launched in 1993 as a replacement for the 309, featuring a sleek design penned by Pininfarina. The 1.6 LX was a popular mid-range trim during the Phase 2 facelift era, offering a balance of equipment and economy. While the GTi-6 and Rallye models are the enthusiast favourites, the standard 306 is still praised for its passive rear-steer axle and excellent ride-handling balance. It remains a benchmark for how a front-wheel-drive family car should steer and corner.

Peugeot 306 fun facts
- The 306 shares much of its underpinnings and floorpan with the Citroën ZX, though the Peugeot was widely considered the better-looking car.

- The 306's rear suspension features a passive steering function achieved through compliant rubber bushes that allow the wheels to turn slightly with cornering loads.
