About the Citroën Xsara Mk2
The Mk2 Citroën Xsara, introduced in 2000, featured a significant facelift with larger 'almond' headlights and a stiffened chassis for improved safety. The 2.0 HDi unit was a pioneer in common-rail diesel technology, offering significantly better refinement and fuel economy than the older XUD engines. While the Xsara was often overshadowed by the more radical C4 that followed, it was praised for its supple ride quality and practical interior. In 2006, the Xsara was in its final year of production, primarily sold as an estate or the Picasso MPV, though the hatchback remained a common sight across Europe.
