About the Mazda 6 GG

The first-generation Mazda 6, known as the GG series, marked a significant shift for Mazda, replacing the ageing 626 with a focus on driving dynamics and 'Zoom-Zoom' marketing. The 2.0 TS was a core trim in the UK, offering a balance of equipment and the rev-happy MZR engine. It was praised by contemporary critics for its sharp steering and chassis composure, which rivalled the class-leading Ford Mondeo of the era. Today, it is remembered as the car that revitalised Mazda's image in the early 2000s, though examples are becoming rarer due to rust issues.
