About the Maserati Coupé
The Maserati Coupé, often called the 4200 GT, marked a pivotal era for the brand under Ferrari's stewardship. It replaced the 3200 GT's temperamental twin-turbo engine with a high-revving, naturally aspirated 4.2-litre V8 developed by Ferrari, known as the F136 R. While it lost the iconic 'boomerang' LED taillights of its predecessor to meet US regulations, it gained a sophisticated transaxle layout for improved weight distribution. The 4200 GT offers a genuine 2+2 cabin trimmed in fine Italian leather, providing a more soulful and exclusive alternative to contemporary German grand tourers.

- Its F136 V8 engine is a close relative of the unit found in the Ferrari F430, though the Maserati version uses a cross-plane crankshaft for a smoother, more traditional V8 burble.
- The manual 'GT' trim is significantly rarer than the 'Cambiocorsa' paddle-shift version, with only 1,078 manual coupés produced worldwide.
