About the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 C5
Introduced for the 2001 model year, the C5 Z06 was a track-focused evolution of the Corvette, based exclusively on the lighter Fixed Roof Coupé (FRC) body style. For 2002, Chevrolet upgraded the LS6 engine to 405 hp through a higher-lift camshaft, stiffer valve springs, and removed catalytic converter pre-flutes. It features functional rear brake cooling ducts, a titanium exhaust system to save weight, and FE4 suspension tuning. As a performance bargain of its era, it remains highly regarded for its balanced handling and the durability of its small-block V8.
