About the Jaguar Mark IX
The Jaguar Mark IX was the final and most refined iteration of the large, separate-chassis saloons that began with the Mark VII. While visually nearly identical to the preceding Mark VIII, it introduced the potent 3.8-litre XK engine that would later define the E-Type, alongside standard four-wheel disc brakes and power-assisted steering. Its interior is a masterclass in British luxury, featuring extensive walnut veneers, Connolly leather, and rear picnic tables. As a 'gentleman's express', it offered performance that could rival contemporary Bentleys at a fraction of the cost, making it a favourite for state dignitaries and the British Royal Family.
