About the Hyundai Elantra MD

The MD-generation Hyundai Elantra represented a significant leap forward for the brand, moving away from conservative styling toward a more aggressive, aerodynamic aesthetic. Launched in 2010, it featured the 'Gamma' engine family and was one of the first in its class to offer a six-speed transmission as standard across most markets. While the 1.6-litre variant was primarily targeted at international markets like Korea and the Middle East rather than North America, it maintained the model's reputation for efficiency and value. It won the North American Car of the Year award in 2012, highlighting the global success of the platform.
