About the Hyundai Elantra AD
Launched in late 2015 for the 2016/2017 model years, the 'AD' generation Elantra marked a significant shift toward a more conservative, sophisticated design language compared to its 'Fluidic Sculpture' predecessor. The 1.6-litre MPi variant was a staple in international markets, prioritising fuel efficiency and reliability over outright performance. It featured a chassis composed of 53% advanced high-strength steel, which significantly improved torsional rigidity and handling composure. While not sold in the UK, it remained a global bestseller for Hyundai, competing directly with the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic.
