About the Honda Z
Introduced in 1970, the Honda Z360 was a stylish 'Kei' class coupé based on the N360 saloon platform. It is distinguished by its unique rear glass hatch surrounded by a thick black plastic bezel, earning it the nickname 'Gai-kotsu' or 'diving mask' in Japan. The air-cooled, twin-cylinder engine was derived from Honda's motorcycle expertise, capable of revving to 9,000 rpm. While the larger-engined Z600 was exported to the US and Europe, the Z360 remained a quintessential Japanese domestic market icon of the early 1970s.
