About the Honda Odyssey
The third-generation Honda Odyssey (RB1) represented a radical departure from traditional minivan design, featuring a low-slung profile specifically engineered to fit into Japan's height-restricted multi-storey car parks. Built on the Accord platform, it offered a significantly lower centre of gravity than its predecessors, resulting in handling characteristics more akin to a sports saloon than a people carrier. The 2.4-litre K24A engine provided reliable, smooth power, paired with a CVT in front-wheel-drive models to maximise fuel efficiency. While the North American Odyssey grew into a much larger vehicle, the JDM RB1 remained a cult favourite for its sleek 'multi-seater sedan' aesthetic and clever interior packaging, including a third row that folded electrically into the floor.
