About the Ford Zephyr Mk3
The Ford Zephyr Mk3 represented the final independent design from Ford of Britain before pan-European integration. Introduced in 1962, the '6' variant featured a smooth 2.6-litre straight-six engine and a new all-synchromesh four-speed gearbox, addressing the mechanical shortcomings of its predecessor. Its sharp, American-influenced styling by Roy Brown included prominent tail fins and a full-width grille that distinguished it from the four-cylinder Zephyr 4. Renowned for its durability and motorway presence, it became a staple of British police fleets and a symbol of middle-class aspiration in the 1960s.
