About the Ford Fairlane
The fifth-generation Fairlane marked a significant shift for Ford, moving to a sharper, more aggressive design with vertically stacked quad headlights that mirrored the full-size Galaxie. While the GT and GTA models captured the headlines, the Fairlane 500 served as the popular mid-range choice, offering a balanced blend of everyday usability and classic American V8 character. Built on a 116-inch wheelbase, it provided a more agile alternative to Ford's larger cruisers while maintaining enough interior room for a family. Today, the 1966 Fairlane is highly regarded by collectors for its clean, 'Coke-bottle' proportions and its role in establishing Ford's presence in the burgeoning intermediate muscle car market.
