About the Ford Cortina Mk2

Launched at the 1967 Paris Motor Show, the 1600E (Executive) became the most desirable variant of the Mk2 Cortina. It combined the high-compression 1.6-litre Kent Crossflow engine from the GT with the lowered, stiffened suspension of the Lotus Cortina. The interior was significantly upgraded with a burr walnut dashboard, wood door cappings, and additional instrumentation, while the exterior was distinguished by Rostyle wheels and a blacked-out grille. It remains a landmark of British motoring history, representing the peak of Ford's 'more Cortina for your money' philosophy.
