About the Ford Capri Mk1
The Ford Capri Mk1 was conceived as the European equivalent to the Mustang, offering a sleek fastback silhouette and a wide range of engines to suit every budget. The 3000 GT sat at the top of the regular UK range, powered by the 'Essex' V6 which provided genuine performance and a distinctive, guttural soundtrack. A 1972 facelift introduced a more comfortable suspension setup and larger tail-lights, further refining the 'pony car' formula for British roads. Today, the Mk1 3000 GT is highly prized by collectors for its raw, rear-wheel-drive handling and its status as a cultural icon of the 1970s.
