About the Ford Capri Mk2
The Ford Capri Mk2, introduced in 1974, evolved the 'European Mustang' formula by adding a practical hatchback and a more spacious interior to its iconic long-bonnet silhouette. The Ghia trim replaced the previous GXL as the range-topping luxury variant, featuring a vinyl roof, alloy wheels, and a plush interior with wood-effect trim. While the 3.0-litre V6 offered more power, the 2.0-litre 'Pinto' inline-four provided a balanced, reliable alternative for the daily commute. By 1976, the C3 automatic transmission became standard on Ghia models, reflecting its shift towards a more refined grand tourer rather than a raw sports car.
