About the Fiat Punto 199
The 2012 Fiat Punto (Type 199) represented a consolidation of the range, dropping the 'Grande' and 'Evo' prefixes to return to its original name. The 1.2-litre 8V 'FIRE' engine remained the entry-level choice, valued for its simplicity and low running costs rather than outright performance. The 'Easy' trim was positioned as a mid-range offering, balancing essential equipment with a competitive price point. While the platform was ageing by 2012, the Giugiaro-penned silhouette remained one of the most attractive in the supermini segment. It was eventually succeeded by the Fiat Argo in South America, while the nameplate was retired in Europe in 2018.
