About the Fiat 131 Abarth Rally
Developed by Abarth in collaboration with Bertone, the 131 Abarth Rally was a purpose-built homologation special designed to replace the 124 Abarth. While based on the humble two-door saloon, it featured extensive modifications including independent rear suspension, lightweight glass-fibre body panels, and a 16-valve Lampredi twin-cam engine. It proved exceptionally successful, securing three World Rally Championship manufacturers' titles between 1977 and 1980. The road-going Stradale version retains the competition car's aggressive box-flared arches and distinctive spoilers, offering a raw, mechanical driving experience.

Fiat 131 Abarth Rally fun facts
- To save weight, the road cars were fitted with aluminium door skins and glass-fibre for the bonnet, boot lid, and flared wheel arches.
- The first 25 examples were marked with a 'C' on the wheel arches, standing for 'concessionaria', as every Fiat dealer was required to buy one for display.
- The Stradale version used a non-synchromesh gearbox to meet FIA Group 4 regulations, though many owners later swapped them for synchronized units.
