About the Fiat Punto 176
Launched in 1993 to replace the aging Uno, the Punto (Type 176) was a massive success for Fiat, winning the 1995 European Car of the Year award. The 1.2 S variant utilised the robust and economical Fully Integrated Robotised Engine (FIRE), which became a staple of the Italian brand's line-up. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, it featured distinctive high-mounted vertical tail lights and a surprisingly spacious interior for its class. While the 60hp output is modest, the car's low kerb weight makes it a nimble city runabout that remains a nostalgic entry point for modern classic collectors.
