About the Dodge Viper VX
The fifth-generation Viper, designated VX, returned the nameplate to its roots as a visceral, driver-focused machine while finally introducing modern safety aids like traction and stability control. Marketed under the SRT brand for its first two years, it features a massive 8.4-litre all-aluminium V10 that remains the highest-torque naturally aspirated engine in a production car. The chassis was significantly stiffened with an X-brace and carbon-fibre body panels to improve handling precision. Despite its increased refinement, it remains a demanding car to drive, lacking the automatic transmission options found in its European and domestic rivals.
