About the Daewoo Nexia
The Daewoo Nexia was the spearhead of the Korean giant's entry into the UK market in 1995, famously sold through direct manufacturer-owned outlets with a 'no-haggle' fixed-price policy. Underneath its Giugiaro-penned facelift, the Nexia was essentially a re-engineered Opel Kadett E (Vauxhall Astra Mk2), utilizing a proven but dated GM platform to offer reliability at a low price point. The 1.5 GLi served as the entry-level trim, featuring an 8-valve engine that prioritised simple maintenance over performance. While it was never an enthusiast's choice due to its soft ride and vague handling, it gained a following for its comprehensive 'Peace of Mind' aftersales package, which included three years of free servicing and warranty.
