About the Daewoo Lanos

The Daewoo Lanos was launched in 1997 as a replacement for the Nexia, representing the brand's first solo effort after its split from General Motors. Despite its budget positioning, the Lanos featured a body designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro's Italdesign and suspension tuning assisted by Porsche. The 1.4 S served as the entry-level trim in many European markets, offering basic transport with a focus on value and a comprehensive three-year warranty that was industry-leading at the time. While not a performance car, it remains a notable example of South Korea's rapid automotive expansion in the late 1990s.
