About the Dacia 1300
Launched in 1969 as a licensed copy of the Renault 12, the Dacia 1300 became the definitive 'people's car' of Communist-era Romania. It was remarkably modern for the Eastern Bloc at its debut, featuring front-wheel drive and a comfortable coil-sprung suspension. While production of the original 1300 trim ended in 1984, the platform evolved into the 1310 and remained in production until 2004. Today, early 1300 models are highly prized by collectors for their purity and historical significance as a symbol of Romanian industrial identity.
