About the Chrysler Avenger

The Chrysler Avenger 1.6 GL represents the mid-life evolution of the Hillman Avenger following Chrysler's rebranding of the Rootes Group. Introduced in 1976, this facelifted version featured distinctive new front styling and 'hockey-stick' rear lights, aiming to modernise the car for the late seventies. It was praised for its balanced handling and conventional rear-wheel-drive layout, which made it a popular choice for both families and club-level rally drivers. Despite its humble origins, the Avenger remains a significant piece of British motoring history, marking the transition from Hillman to Chrysler and eventually Talbot.
