About the Chevrolet Camaro
After a two-year hiatus, Chevrolet reintroduced the Z28 midway through the 1977 model year to combat the runaway success of the Pontiac Trans Am. While the 185 hp output from the 350 cubic-inch LM1 V8 was modest compared to the high-compression era, the Z28 focused on handling with a revised suspension, quicker steering, and wider 15-inch wheels. It was a commercial triumph, helping the Camaro outsell the Ford Mustang for the first time in history. Collectors value the 1977 'half-year' models for their unique decals and for marking the start of the Camaro's late-70s performance resurgence.
