About the Ford Ranchero
The fifth-generation Ford Ranchero adopted the 'coke-bottle' styling of the intermediate Torino, moving away from its Falcon-based roots to a larger, more aggressive platform. The 302 cubic-inch (5.0L) V8 served as the standard powerplant for the GT trim, offering a balance of daily usability and classic small-block performance. While it lacked the raw power of the range-topping 429 Cobra Jets, its lighter front end provided better handling characteristics than the big-block variants. Today, it is a popular alternative to the Chevrolet El Camino, valued for its distinctive pointed front-fender tips and integrated cab-bed design.
