About the BMW X3 E83
The E83-generation BMW X3 was the brand's first foray into the compact luxury crossover market, effectively creating the segment. Developed in partnership with Magna Steyr and manufactured in Graz, Austria, it utilised a modified version of the E46 3 Series platform. The 2008 model year features the 'Life Cycle Impulse' (LCI) facelift, which significantly improved interior material quality and introduced the more efficient N47 diesel engine. While early models were criticised for a brittle ride, the post-2006 updates refined the chassis, making it one of the best-handling SUVs of its era, albeit at the expense of genuine off-road capability.
