About the BMW X1 E84
The E84 X1 marked BMW's entry into the premium compact crossover market, uniquely utilizing the E91 3 Series Touring platform. Unlike its front-wheel-drive successors, this first-generation model retains a rear-wheel-drive bias, offering superior steering feel and handling balance for its class. The sDrive20d variant features the N47 diesel engine, which received a power bump to 184 PS during the 2012 facelift. While the interior plastics were sometimes criticised compared to larger X models, its car-like driving position and longitudinal engine layout made it a favorite for driving enthusiasts needing extra ground clearance.
