About the Buick Rendezvous
The Buick Rendezvous arrived for the 2002 model year as the brand's first entry into the burgeoning crossover segment, sharing its U-body platform with the Pontiac Aztek and GM's minivans. Unlike the controversial Aztek, the Rendezvous featured more conservative, premium styling intended to appeal to traditional Buick buyers while offering three rows of seating. The 3.4-litre LA1 V6 provided adequate but unhurried performance, paired with a smooth-shifting 4-speed automatic. While it lacked serious off-road credentials, its car-like ride and flexible interior made it a commercial success, significantly outselling its Pontiac sibling.
