About the Audi RS 5 B9
The B9-generation Audi RS 5 Coupé marked a significant departure for the model, replacing the high-revving naturally aspirated V8 of its predecessor with a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 developed in collaboration with Porsche. Built on the MLB Evo platform, it shed 60kg compared to the B8 generation while gaining a massive 170Nm of torque, delivered much lower in the rev range. The quattro permanent all-wheel-drive system features a self-locking centre differential and an optional sport rear differential for improved agility. While it trades some of the old V8's raw character for refined efficiency and effortless straight-line speed, it remains a formidable, high-tech grand tourer capable of daily use in any climate.

Audi RS 5 B9 fun facts
- The 2.9-litre V6 engine is a 'Hot V' design, meaning the two turbochargers are placed inside the 90-degree angle of the cylinder banks for better response.
- Unlike the previous generation's dual-clutch gearbox, the B9 RS 5 uses a ZF-sourced 8-speed Tiptronic torque-converter automatic to handle the increased torque.
- The RS 5's wider wheel arches are a design nod to the original 1980 Audi Quattro, extending the body width by 15mm compared to the standard A5.
